What is a modern day Princess?

Last week, we did our first round of interviews at Princess Packers. We had some AMAZING applicants. What was fantastic is that so many of them had the qualities that we are looking for in our Princesses already, without being trained. It was awesome, and we are so thrilled to see our team come together and for there to be so much enthusiasm about the job!

You may wonder, how do we evaluate whether or not someone has the attributes necessary to be a Princess? What qualities do WE think our Princesses should have? Well, we’re glad you asked!

Here is what a Princess is not:

A Princess is not someone who is stuck up, bratty, and spoiled. It’s not the obnoxious, man-stealing girl embodied in Avril Lavigne’s pop-punk hit “Girlfriend” who claims to be the “mother F*!kin princess”—call us old fashioned, but a real Princess wouldn’t use that language. One doesn’t become a Princess merely by slapping a pink sparkly “Princess” sticker on her VW Jetta, dressing in head to toe pink Juicy, or by carrying a shivering Chihuahua in a Louis Vuitton carrying case. Nor is a Princess made by swilling Champagne at a nightclub while wearing a pink mini dress and a rhinestone tiara. That’s basically the opposite of what we are looking to hire at Princess Packers.

On the other hand, here is what we are looking for! And what we have found, to our delight!

A real modern day Princess is kind, gracious, bright, and helpful. Using examples that are familiar to us all, she is smart like Belle, curious like Ariel, charitable like Princess Diana, and cheerful like Snow White. Her joyous spirit and generous nature bring happiness to all around her, like Giselle from Enchanted. In our interview last week, we saw all of these qualities in the smiling faces of our Princess applicants who were genuinely excited about being paid to help others through a stressful time while adding a little cheer to a home in transition.

We are so excited to introduce our new Princesses to you all! Check back soon, and “Like” us on Facebook to keep up to date.
